At Home Postpartum Care

Why is postpartum care so important?

Immediately after birth a woman’s body is nutritionally depleted and often from the stresses of birth she is very vulnerable. It is important to take the time needed to recover and properly heal. This means resting in bed as much as possible, and adhering to a postpartum specific diet that will help balance hormones, induce lactation, and heal the womb.

The majority of the world treats new mother’s with reverence and offers an average of 40 days of postpartum care and support. Postpartum care in other parts of the world includes a variety of treatments in addition to a special diet, such as baths, steams, massage and more. The United States does not currently have this as part of its culture or medical model. I believe new mothers need and deserve this special care. Having the support of a trained postpartum doula can greatly help new mother’s in their first few days after birth and help to avoid the onset of postpartum depression.

I have been trained in both modern and traditional postpartum care methods, with certification in The Art of Sacred Postpartum and have studied successful postpartum practices from countries around the world including Morocco, India, China, Malaysia, Europe.

As your postpartum doula I will visit you for 7 days delivering nutritious meals, teas, smoothies, and offer healing medicinal baths, warm oil rubs, belly binding, womb steams, and lactation support. I will be there to answer your questions, and offer comfort, support and resources, so you can relax, adjust and transition during this sacred time. I look forward to helping you celebrate motherhood.

I cater to special diets/allergies as needed.
